Shabana Sayedzada's ESL Journey In The U.S.
When Shabana Sayedzada arrived in the United States in August 2021, she faced the immense challenges that many immigrants encounter: securing a job, navigating the educational system, and, perhaps most daunting, mastering a new language. Originally from Afghanistan, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, Shabana quickly recognized that to advance in her career and fully integrate into American society, she needed to enhance her English proficiency.
Determined to succeed, Shabana enrolled in Simplify Global Education (SGE), a program dedicated to empowering immigrants through education. Starting in an intermediate ESL class, she has now progressed to the upper-intermediate level, demonstrating significant improvements in her language skills. Reflecting on her journey, Shabana shared, “My English has absolutely improved. I used to speak very slowly, but now I speak very well and confidently. Before, I relied on my husband to accompany me on outings, but now I can navigate these on my own and interact effectively with others.” This newfound confidence has transformed Shabana’s day-to-day life and bolstered her professional aspirations. She plans to continue her education in pharmacy, applying her improved language skills to better understand her field and grow professionally.
Shabana’s story is a powerful testament to the critical role language plays in the lives of immigrants. “I want to express my gratitude to my ESL class and my teachersteachers,” she said. “They have significantly helped me improve my English. I believe that everyone living in the U.S. should learn English professionally—it’s crucial for a successful future here.”
At Simplify Global Education, Shabana’s success story is just one example of how targeted educational programs can make a profound difference. By equipping students with the necessary language skills, SGE helps them unlock their potential and paves the way for their achievements in the U.S.
Shabana Sayedzada’s journey from dependency to independence and academic ambition illustrates the transformative power of education and the enduring resilience of the human spirit.
